3rd Group arrives safely with 17 additional suitcases of supplies.

Group 3 has arrived safely at COTP--again, travel went smoothly.

The group dove right in by having a pool day and helping with all the regular tasks of caring for 46 babies.  Having Mattea and Danielle around yet for a few days has been a big asset in training the 3rd group in to the tasks--it's nice to have a few extra people who know what is going on so that we do not have to trouble the long term volunteers as much to train us in.

Baby Ruth continues to stay with the Vander Pols as she adjusts to life at COTP and puts on some pounds to get her closer to where she should be at weight-wise.  Other than Ruth there are no other babies staying in the volunteer house tonight as Ezekiel has moved on to his new home in the special needs room.

Most of the ladies have gone off to bed, and now that the dice game is over likely the rest of us will be nodding off shortly.

Tomorrow's worship options are Haitien church next door at the Manna compound or the Missionary fellowship tomorrow afternoon.  Other than that Sundays are a low key day at COTP so that the long term staff can have a sabbath.  We will still help with the daily tasks and care for babies though.

I have not heard yet of group #2's return, so I cannot post that yet.  I know their plane left about 10 minutes before the 3rd group's plane landed as we saw both planes while we waited.

Blessings to all of our family and friends,
Kirk

  1. Hello to my wife and daughter (and everyone else!) All is well here today in Wisconsin... Wedding and reception were excellent. I suspect that where I was and where you are represent nearly opposite ends of the socio-economic spectrum. Trust the day went well for you and you are able to rest and Sabbath a bit tomorrow (Sunday). I will be staying for church here in Madison before heading out after lunch. Love you both! Blessings to all!

  2. Group 2 made it safe and sound. A little late due to the plane not leaving Florida on time, but a phone call from them meant we met up at the right time. Dropped Luke and Justin off at the races, while the rest were dropped off at either Willmar CRC or home. Sounds like they all had an incredible experience as no one could quit talking. Praying for an awesome trip for Team 3 and the Vander Pols as they wrap up almost a full month of serving God by way of COTP!! See you all soon!

  3. Finally see that you all arrived safely. Thought about you both all day today. Think I'm finally coming around a little with the sinuses. Vince and Brenda and the kids are coming for hamburgers tomorrow after church. Love you! Will be praying for all of you.

  4. Hey girls... as I slept in my soft, QUIET, clean, bug-free bed last night I remembered how my first nights were there. Don't worry about the rats... they can't make it into the volunteer house. You can only hear them. If they did, you would have seen them before bedtime! (We saw no rats IN the volunteer house) Did you get to see how Anel LOVED the pool? If not, you have got to find a time to put that little boy in the water. I've never seen anyone that laughed with every FIBER of his ULTIMATE Being!! And don't let Davidson fool you... he absolutely LOVES to be cuddled and squeezed tight. Have a blast girls! Would you also give lots of hugs and kisses from me? I miss those little ones already!

  6. We made it home around 10pm. Flights went well. Pizza and Burger King never tasted so good! The AC in the van is working great.
It's good to be home but we miss Haiti already and will be ready to return soon.
Hope all you girls keep Kirk in line this week. Jeff wants to let Kari know that Wilson is a very nice young man and he is single. :)
Praying for all of you to have a memorable week - enjoy every moment - the week will go by quickly.
Give Ruth a hug and kiss from us.

  7. Hey everyone! I am glad to hear that team 3 made it safely to Haiti! We had a pretty good flight home. Just a heads up that on the IBC flight we were served some awesome blueberry muffins, not those gross sandwiches again, we hope you get the same. Like the other Ladies said, we are all missing being there too and are ready to return when we get the chance. Please give Jerry a big hug from me. I miss the praise time at night and catch myself humming the songs. Have a great week and we will see you when you return home. We will have to share some stories!!
